OperaArts is very excited to announce the Festival of Opera & Art. The festival will be held at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park on Sunday April 11, 2010. Civic Center Park is centrally located in Palm Desert. The festival will be a great event for all ages. This event is FREE to the public and features Gypsies and princesses, toreadors and troubadors, ladies of the night and the girl next door—come and meet an international cast of characters from the worlds of opera, operetta and musical theater! The Festival of Opera and Art celebrates its inaugural concert with an afternoon of arias and ensembles from La Bohème, Carmen, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Pagliacci, The Merry Widow, South Pacific, La Forza del Destino and more! Maestro Gualtiero Negrini conducts the Opera Arts Festival Orchestra, with featuring sopranos Shana Blake Hill and Rachel Eskenazi-Gold, mezzo-soprano Cynthia Jansen, tenor Christopher Campbell and baritone Roberto Perlas Gomez. A variety of art experiences and interactive art will delight all. There will be food and non-alcoholic beverages for sale, with face-painting and other activities for the children. Gale Enger will display his piano artistry for the warm-up show. |
