Robin Farnsley - Soprano


"A coloratura soprano with a voluptuous voice" (The Plain Dealer) recently finished her fifth season with the Ohio Light Opera singing the roles of Sonia in The Czarevitch and Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard. In past seasons OLO audiences have enjoyed her performances as Kathy in The Student Prince, Crystal in Der Fogelhändler, Nina in The Firefly, Irene in The Queen's Lace Handkerchief, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Ottlie in Maytime, Ninon in The Violet of Montmartre, and Hanna Glavari in The Merry Widow. She enjoys a rich and varied career that includes not only operetta but opera and musical theatre as well. She appeared to great acclaim singing the title roles in Roméo et Juliette and Lakmé with Arizona Opera. For Opera Pacific she has sung Papagena in The Magic Flute. She received rave reviews for her Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with West Bay Opera. She appeared as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Yum-Yum in The Mikado with Desert Opera Theatre. She continues to be invited as a guest artist for Los Angeles Opera's acclaimed education and community outreach programs and the Operatta Foundation's concert series. On the Musical Theatre stage, Robin's appearances include Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Laurie in Oklahoma!, Tuptim in The King and I, and Maria in West Side Story. She has appeared on several CD recordings of musical theatre on both the Albany Records and Operetta Archives labels. Most recently, she was featured on the CD Fascinating Night: Rediscovered Gems from The Early Days of Musical Theatre. Earlier this year she collaborated with the Operetta Foundation and Steve Daigle to create What a Day! What a Year!! What a Life!!! - a musical revue which made its debut at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park, CA.
