Greek-American Soprano Jamie Chamberlin has been recognized as one of the premiere singing actresses of her generation. Alan Rich of LA Weekly writes, "I would be thrilled to revisit the vocal and comedic talents of Jamie Chamberlin any time she comes my way." Frequently in demand as a recitalist and concert artist, Jamie performs regularly throughout California and beyond. In 2007 she was given the Special Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Western Regional Finals, First place in the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Competition, Third place in the inaugural José Iturbi International Music Competition, and was invited to Seoul, South Korea to participate in the Seoul International Music Competition as one of eight American singers. In 2006, as a participant in the prestigious Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, she received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Anne Sexton in Susa's Transformations, and for her sparkling Merola Grand Finale performances as Offenbach's Euridice and Bernstein's Cunegonde on the stage of the War Memorial Opera House.
Miss Chamberlin made her professional debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2004 singing the soprano solo in the world premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's monumental orchestral work, Wing on Wing. The following season, she made her solo debut with Los Angeles Opera singing the High Priestess in Aida and the Cretan Woman in Idomeneo, with Plácido Domingo. Miss Chamberlin frequently appears with the Pasadena Symphony under the baton of Jorge Mester, where her repertoire has included Milhaud's Chants de Ronsard, Poulenc's Gloria, Adams' Grand Pianola Music and the Soprano I solo in Mozart's C Minor Mass. In 2011 she will make her Louisville Orchestra debut singing Poulenc and Milhaud. She recently made her Fort Collins Symphony debut singing Villa Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 and Mahler's Fourth Symphony. Miss Chamberlin holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees from UCLA, where her roles included the Contessa di Follevile in Il Viaggio A Reims, Lady Billows in Albert Herring, Concepción in L'heure Espagnole and Anita in West Side Story, among others. Jamie has participated and taught in Music Outreach and Education programs with Los Angeles Opera, The LA Phil, and Opera Santa Barbara. She has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships from organizations which include UCLA, The Pasadena Opera Guild, The Opera Buffs, The Pilsbury Foundation, and the Society of Singers.
